Coach

Coach is an American luxury leather goods manufacturing company that is popular for its ladies’ handbags, briefcases, wallets, and other accessories. The company was founded as a partnership called Gail Leather Products in 1941, in a loft on Manhattan’s 34th Street, New York City. The business was family owned and produced leather wallets and billfolds by six leatherworkers by hand.

In 1946, Miles Cahn and his wife Lillian joined the company. Both Miles and Lillian owned a leather handbag manufacturing business and brought their knowledge into the enterprise. Within four years, Cahn had taken over the business and was running it mostly by himself. In 1961, Miles and Lillian Cahn bought the company.

Coach has a variety of luxury leather items for men and women, including accessories. The selection for women includes handbags, wallets, shoes, wristlets, watches, jewelry, sunglasses, clothing, fragrances, etc. For men, the products available include bags, wallets, shoes, belts, watches, clothing, sunglasses, tech, fragrances and travel. There are over 190 Coach stores in the United States, of which about 120 are retail stores and the remaining others factory outlets, mail order catalogs and the company’s online store. Coach also has an international presence with about 175 Coach stores in 18 countries.
