Located near Interstate 88 in Oak Brook, Illinois Oakbrook Center is the second largest shopping center in the Chicago area. Opened in 1962, the mall is managed and co-owned by General Growth Properties. Current anchor stores include: Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Sears.
Originally named Oakbrook Terrace, the name was changed when a town near the mall took that name.
In 2013, Oakbrook Center completed a renovation that enhanced the common areas, provided additional amenities and redeveloped an anchor building with additional specialty shops, a new Container Store and first-to-Midwest market retailer PIRCH.
Oakbrook Center has had four expansions since its opening in 1962. The result is that Oakbrook Center one of the largest shopping centers in the nation with over 2 million square feet of shopping space.
The 2013 project added luxury and better-price retailers including: Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Burberry, Omega, Michael Kors, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Coach, Crate & Barrel and new retailers kate spade new york, BOSS Hugo Boss, Tommy Bahama, Aritzia, Peek and Clarks. In 2014, Le Meridien Hotel opens its first hotel in the Midwest market at Oakbrook Center.
Oakbrook Center also features fine dining restaurants including: Maggiano’s Little Italy, Mon Ami Gabi, Wildfire, The Cheesecake Factory, Seasons 52 and the newest Old Town Pour House location and Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille’s first Midwest market location.
