Woodfield Mall offers shoppers 300 stores, including Macy’s, Sears and JC Penney. This is one of the top tourist attractions in Illinois and is where stores such as American Eagle Outfitter and Abercrombie and Fitch had its birth. The restaurants include Texas de Brazil, among other.
The Mall is located in Schaumburg, Chicago at the corner of Illinois Route 53 and Golf Road. It is placed about 15 miles from O’Hare Airport and around 28 miles from downtown Chicago
The mall was opened during September 1971 with placement of 59 stores. This grew to 189 stores by 1973. It has grown to become the largest mall in the Chicago region. It forms part of a threesome of malls in the area, along with Streets of Woodfield and Woodfield Village Green.
During 2000, visitors to Chicago voted this mall as their favorite suburban attraction. It offers retail space of around 2.7million feet and hosts around 27 million visitors on an annual basis.
The mall is often used as a retail testing market.
