They are produced in both Europe and Asia - close to their primary markets. Ecco has 1,100 stores and 14,000 other selling facilities around the world.  
 
ECCO has grown from a tiny factory in Southern Denmark to an international shoe company of over 17000 employees worldwide. Ecco shoe manufacturing was founded in 1963 by Danish Karl Toosbuy. It is still a family-owned and runs the company.   ECCO controls the whole manufacturing process, from design to marketing. Designers develop the collection and even own tanneries which produce the leather for ECCO-owned factories.
