Sawgrass Mills has more than 350 stores, including Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, and Gap, as well as a few value retailers. The mall is climate-controlled and enclosed. There are approximately 40 exclusive outlets that customers cannot find anyplace else in South Florida. These include Salvatore Ferragamo Company Stores and Burberry Factory Outlets.
The mall’s first phase took place in two stages. The first opened on October 4, 1990, with the Sears Outlet wing on the eastern end, passing the Garden Food Court, and concluding with the Books-A-Million shop on the western end of the complex.
The second stage, which opened on November 15, 1990, extended from the Books-A-Million shop, the second food court, to the Neiman Marcus Last Call Clearance Center section.
In November 1995, a phase two expansion was built, running parallel to the middle mall corridor.
Following the addition, the Oasis extension opened on April 15, 1999. A parking structure was built in 2002, and the most recent addition, completed in 2009, connected Wannado City to the Colonnade Outlet.
