About Timberland

Founded by Nathan Swartz, the company started off with Nathan Swartz being an apprentice stitcher with The Abington Shoe Company in 1918. In 1952, Nathan Swartz bought a half interest in The Abington Shoe Company, and in 1955, he bought the remaining benefit of the company and introduced his sons into the business. In 1969, the company’s manufacturing operations were moved to Newmarket, New Hampshire, and in 1973 the brand name “Timberland” was introduced for waterproof leather boots manufactured by the company. Following the success of the boots, the company changed its name to The Timberland Company.
In the 1980s Timberland began its international operations by marketing its products in Italy. And in 1987, the company became public and was listed on the American Stock Exchange. Following the company’s success in Italy, Timberland began moving out to other European markets. Currently Timberland manufacturers over 10 million pairs of shoes each year and exports them to over 60 countries around the world.
Timberland offers high-quality shoes for men, women, and kids. From boots to loafers, Timberland has it all. Timberland has its stores located in several places in the United Kingdom. The following are some of the locations in the UK where Timberland stores are located.
