Smith Haven Mall holds the primary enclosed retail position for central Suffolk County, Long Island, covering a catchment of approximately 400,000 to 500,000 residents across the communities of Lake Grove, Stony Brook, Commack, Smithtown, Hauppauge, and the Route 347 corridor. Operated by Simon Property Group, the 116,000-sqm property on Veterans Memorial Highway serves as the default comparison-shopping destination for a Suffolk County market with limited enclosed-mall competition to the east.
Macy’s anchors the department store tier. The specialty fashion register covers Zara, H and M, and L.L. Bean alongside a full mid-tier specialty complement. Dick’s Sporting Goods, lululemon, and JD Sports anchor the athletic category. The dining profile is notable for its full-service restaurant concentration: The Cheesecake Factory, Texas de Brazil, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, and Ford’s Garage collectively create a dining destination function that sustains evening traffic beyond conventional mall hours.
Long Island Expressway access at Exit 62 and the Veterans Memorial Highway corridor position the mall as accessible from both the Nassau County border and the Route 25 communities of eastern Smithtown and Brookhaven. Suffolk County’s residential density is concentrated in the western half of the island, where Smith Haven sits within the primary trade area of the largest single residential concentration in the county.
Smith Haven functions as Long Island’s natural second market after Roosevelt Field, once a retailer looks beyond Nassau County. The property’s full-service dining concentration, disproportionate relative to its single department-store anchor, reflects its role as a leisure hub for central Suffolk County, sustaining a visit pattern that extends from weekday lunch and weekend shopping into evening dining.
Sit-down dining at the property includes Ruth's Chris Steak House, Texas de Brazil and The Cheesecake Factory. Quick options include Charley's Philly Steak.
Yes. The mall has the Food Court.
