This massive 130-acre site was bought by The Pyramid Companies for around $3m with a promise to clean up the two landfills which had been filled with garbage and incinerator ash. The proposal of the mall during 1985 was met with opposition from the locals as they feared an increase in crime, air pollution and an increase in traffic. The ground was finally broken during 1993 at a cost of around $250m.
The mall underwent remodeling during 2013, with proposed designer lighting and glass mosaics, among other attractions.
