Torrid, an American retail chain owned by Hot Topic, offers plus-size clothing and accessories for women and girls sizes 12 – 26. Founded in 2001, at the Brea Mall in Brea, California, Torrid now has over 170 stores in thirty-six states.

 In 2005, Torrid expanded its merchandise selection to include styles different its parent company. Torrid inventory includes fashion accessories, shoes, jewelry, novelty tee shirts, fashion tops, pants, Capri pants, shorts, skirts, dresses, outerwear, intimate apparel, hosiery, gifts, and beauty products. Torrid keeps its pulse on the fashion trends by direct communication with customers, employees and corporate personnel. Its products are an even mix of private label, and external brands like Dickies Girl, Tripp, Freestyle Revolution, and Z. Cavaricci.
