Springfield is the unisex casual fashion banner of Tendam (the rebranded Cortefiel Group), the Spanish multi-brand fashion holding company. Tendam’s banner portfolio also includes Cortefiel (heritage formal and contemporary), Pedro del Hierro (premium contemporary), Women’s Secret (lingerie), and Hoss Intropia. PAI Partners and CVC Capital Partners acquired Tendam in 2017, replacing the prior consortium led by CVC, Pai Partners, and Permira that had taken Cortefiel private in 2005.
Founded in 1988, Springfield was conceived as a casual, urban-styled line that positioned Tendam in the youth-and-young-adult casual segment alongside Inditex, Mango, and H&M. The brand evolved from a menswear-only origin into a unisex format with parallel men’s and women’s collections sharing in-store space and merchandising language. Tendam group revenue reached approximately €1.2 billion in fiscal year 2024, with Springfield representing one of the larger contributors alongside Cortefiel. Private equity ownership has driven multiple strategic initiatives, including digital infrastructure investment, the launch of Tendam Brands as a multi-banner online platform, and a 2024-2025 exploration of strategic options including potential IPO or trade sale. The group exited the Russian market in 2022.
Springfield operates approximately 600 stores across more than 60 countries, with the largest concentrations in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Mexico, the Middle East, North Africa, and select Latin American markets. Distribution combines wholly owned stores, franchised stores in international markets, and a growing direct-to-consumer e-commerce channel. For mall operators, Springfield is a Class A and Class B+ unisex youth-casual tenant typically taking 400 to 900 square meters, fitting alongside Pull & Bear, Bershka, and the Mango Man and Mango Woman concepts. The Tendam group co-tenancy package (Springfield, Cortefiel, Women’s Secret, Pedro del Hierro) is leased together in larger regional centers, with landlords benefiting from multi-banner negotiations with the Madrid-based group.
