An affiliate of Brookfield Asset Management has completed its acquisition of U.S. mall REIT Rouse Properties.
According to CoStar, the previously announced acquisition closed at a sale price of $2.8 billion. The companies agreed on the deal this past February. Rouse, which was spun off from General Growth Properties in 2011, specializes in the management, redevelopment and repositioning of Class B regional malls. The portfolio that Brookfield acquired includes 35 regional malls and retail centers in 21 states that spanning roughly 23.8 million square feet of retail.
