Renamed from Westfield Garden City in August 2022, Westfield Mt Gravatt drew enough local objection to generate a petition with over a thousand signatures, a rare case of a shopping centre’s own community fighting its rebrand. The centre itself still sits in Upper Mount Gravatt, not Mount Gravatt proper, which was part of the residents’ argument.
Myer holds the full-line department-store position across two levels, with Big W, Kmart and Target covering the discount tier and Aldi, Coles and Woolworths anchoring grocery. A 16-screen Event Cinemas complex anchors entertainment, and EB Games rounds out the major tenants.
The mini-major layer runs deep for a centre of this scale, from Zara, H&M and Uniqlo in fashion to Harris Scarfe, Officeworks and MECCA, with Rebel, JB Hi-Fi and Kathmandu covering sport and electronics. A 2024 reconfiguration turned the vacated David Jones space into an expanded Uniqlo and Harris Scarfe alongside entertainment operators Area 51, Holey Moley and Hijinx Hotel, replacing a closed department store with a leasing mix built for dwell time. Across roughly 141,700 square metres, it is one of the largest centres in Brisbane.
Serving Brisbane’s southside from the Garden City bus station and Upper Mount Gravatt busway interchange, the centre remains known locally by its former name regardless of the rebrand. For a brand assessing Brisbane’s south, its anchor depth and its resolution of a major vacancy matter more than what the sign says.
