Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, on the island’s northern coast 45 miles west of San Juan via Route 22, positions Puerto Rico Premium Outlets as the primary premium outlet destination for the western and central Puerto Rico consumer who finds the Barceloneta property accessible without the metropolitan traffic that San Juan area retail generates. The 353,000 square foot Simon property draws from the island-wide consumer base, serving the Puerto Rico outlet market at a location where the absence of a competing premium outlet west of the capital concentrates the outlet shopping category at the single Route 22 corridor property.
Caribbean Cinemas serves the entertainment category. Banco Popular provides in-outlet banking services. Claro, the Latin American telecommunications operator with the island’s largest mobile subscriber base, and Liberty Cablevision occupy the telecom and cable services positions. The accessible luxury outlet tier runs BOSS, Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, and Polo Ralph Lauren alongside Lacoste and Psycho Bunny. Totto, Valija, and Kipling anchor the travel and accessories outlet category with three brands that carry stronger consumer recognition in Puerto Rico and Latin American markets than in comparable US mainland outlet formats.
Fit 2 Run, JD Sports, Nike, Puma, Crocs, and Skechers cover the sportswear and athletic footwear outlet register. IHOP, Chili’s, Olive Garden, and Ponderosa Steakhouse anchor the full-service dining tier. The outlet’s market position is the island’s single premium outlet west of the capital, a geographic position in the northern Puerto Rico consumer trade area that the Route 22 corridor from San Juan to Mayaguez consolidates at the Barceloneta exit.
