Desigual completed its 2019 to 2024 repositioning program with €332 million in 2024 revenue and a positive pre-tax result of €3.1 million, ending five consecutive years of strategic transformation that lowered the average customer age into the late thirties and recentered the brand around a more contemporary aesthetic. The Barcelona-based fashion house is privately owned by Swiss-born founder Thomas Meyer (sole owner since 2017 when he bought out the Andic family stake), with Alberto Ojinaga serving as CEO. Founded in 1984 in Ibiza, Desigual built its initial identity around colorful patchwork and asymmetric prints, with a peak revenue of €964 million reached in 2014 before a multi-year decline that prompted the 2019 reset.
The brand’s 2026 to 2029 strategic plan, introduced in 2025, builds on the completed repositioning with a move into premium product positioning via the new Desigual Studio limited-edition line, previewed at a Barcelona fashion show on September 10, 2025. The line targets a 30-year-old customer, slightly below the current core customer age. Online sales reached 35% of revenue in 2024 (€116 million), up from 19% in 2019, driven by entry into Macy’s and Nordstrom in the United States, the Myntra alliance in India, and the Shanghai flagship opened October 2024 in partnership with local distributor E-Shine. By region, EMEA grew 11%, the United States 7%, and Japan 9% in 2024.
Desigual operates approximately 282 monobrand stores across 95 markets, supported by roughly 8,000 multi-brand wholesale doors and the e-commerce platform. The brand invested €98 million over five years restructuring the physical retail network, with 90% of stores now operating the new concept. Madrid-born actress Ester Expósito serves as 2025 global ambassador. Marketing investment will reach 10% of total turnover in 2025, the largest in company history. For mall operators, Desigual is an active mid-market expansion counterparty with selective focus on Asian flagships and premium-tier department store wholesale partnerships, with leasing routed through the Barcelona commercial organization.
