Singapore closes malls and restaurants to the unvaccinated

The new restrictions will take effect October 13, 2021, Singapore Health Minister On Ye Khun said.

Singapore has joined the list of countries where severe restrictions on unvaccinated citizens have gone into effect. The new limits will take effect on October 13, 2021, Singapore’s Health Minister On Ye Khun said. 

It is noted that only persons who have received two components of the vaccine and children under the age of twelve will be able to visit shopping malls, supermarkets, tourist and entertainment facilities, and cafes and restaurants. 

An exception will be made for grocery stores, which will serve everyone. Unvaccinated citizens will be able to order takeaway food at cafes and restaurants, the TASS news agency reported. 

A particular preparatory phase in Singapore began as early as August 10. At that time, about 80% of citizens had been vaccinated, and most restrictions were lifted. After that, the rate of virus spread began to grow rapidly, and instead of 20-30 cases per August, today, more than 3,500 new infections have been recorded in the country. The country’s authorities hope to avoid a lockdown for now and apply pinpoint measures and restrictions.
