Chinese marketplace Shain is expanding its assortment with new categories

Chinese marketplace Shain is expanding its assortment with new categories, including home appliances, smart home and DIY products. In addition, the company will begin selling new fashion brands, including Skechers and Lansinoh.
Shein’s press office said adding the new product categories is part of a program to meet growing consumer demand and optimize lead times. The company launched its online store in the U.S. and Brazil this year, targeting new markets. The Chinese online giant is now attracting new merchants by providing real-time data analytics and sales and marketing support.
“We are always committed to providing our customers with high-quality products at affordable prices, and our expansion into new categories reflects that,” Molly Miao, COO of Shein, said in a statement about its product expansion. “Through our collaborations with these curated brands, we not only highlight the distinctive value of Shein’s newly launched marketplace but also demonstrate our dedication to customer satisfaction and our mission to make fashion and lifestyle products accessible to everyone.”
Shein has also recently transformed its supply chain. The company plans to invest an additional $15 million to renovate its own factories over the next three to four years. In addition, investments in a responsible sourcing program will be doubled.
Shein is seeking to upgrade its own supply chain of goods and is bringing more sellers onto platforms amid increased scrutiny from Congress. The company is suspicious of Chinese supply chains in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Chinese fashion giant Shein is further developing its partnership with US brand Forever 21.
