Al Jimi Mall is the first shopping mall to open in the city; it is located in the Jimi Area, close to the governmental buildings. The mall hosts approximately 110 tenants, offers over 1,000 parking spaces. The anchor stores are Carrefour, Centrepoint, Home Centre and Fun City. Now the mall has 35,000 square metres of Gross Lettable Area. The East Wing will add in excess of 10,000 square metres of additional retail area.
The building was originally built as a vegetable and meat market in the early 80’s, but was renovated and revamped which earned it an ICSC certificate of merit for innovation in refurbishment and redevelopment in 2002.
