The new retail development in Orange County is moving ahead and a few of the anchors have just been announced.
The co-developer of the LOOP-Hudson Valley said leasing is proceeding well for this 650000 ft² development planned for the Town of Newburgh.
\Tom Wilder from The Wilder Companies said that the company is a catalyst for new development and not only in retail. Other businesses are attracted to the areas around their projects. He stated that the I-84 and I-87 junction is a great opportunity for access to multiple uses.
This location is the same as being touted by the developers of two of the six casinos that have been proposed for Orange County—one in New Windsor and one in the Town of Newburgh. The casino license decisions will be made in mid-December. It is expected that two of the four licenses will be given to the Hudson Valley/Catskills area.
This venture will be a partnership between The Wilder Companies and Wilder Balter Partners, New York. A few of the anchors that have been named include Shoprite, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and BJ’s Wholesale Club.
Michael’s is due to relocate from its site at Adams Fairacre Farms. The plan is to include 50 smaller stores with a multi-screen theatre and restaurants.
The project is due to create around 1000 construction jobs and thereafter 1000 permanent sales and management jobs. Ground will be broken during the coming spring, with plans for an opening during the fourth quarter of 2016.
