Sun Hung Kai Properties built YOHO Mall as the retail component of its YOHO Town residential development in Yuen Long, opening the first phase in September 2015 and a second phase, YOHO Mall II, in July 2017. Combined with the smaller YOHO Mix extension, the complex totals roughly 1.2 million sqft, the largest retail footprint in Hong Kong’s northwest New Territories.
The mall sits directly above Yuen Long MTR station, positioning it to draw cross-border shoppers heading to or from Shenzhen Bay Port as well as local residents, a routing advantage few malls outside the immediate border districts share. American Eagle, Hollister and Mango anchor a fashion register aimed at a younger demographic than the New Territories mall average.
Nike, Adidas and Foot Locker carry the sports floor, while National Geographic and CHAGEE round out a lifestyle mix SHKP’s own leasing materials position directly against New Town Plaza in Sha Tin. More than 300 brands operate across the combined complex.
That competitive framing matters because Yuen Long had no large mall before YOHO opened: the site previously held Sun Yuen Long Centre, a smaller 1994-built shopping center SHKP absorbed and renovated into the YOHO Mall framework rather than replacing outright.
