SM City Sta. Mesa has traded since 1990, when it opened as SM Centerpoint, and took its present name in 2005 on its fifteenth anniversary, a change SM framed around the Santa Mesa district it borders. The building stands at Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard and G. Araneta Avenue in Barangay Doña Imelda, on the Quezon City side of the Manila boundary.
The 2025 upgrade cycle added recreation to the roof deck and refreshed the dining and cinema offer. Four pickleball courts opened on the roof deck on 29 March 2025, and SM Prime folded them into a portfolio programme announced on 2 May 2025. A Director’s Club cinema with two 50-seat recliner houses runs alongside four digital screens, and the dining line has taken in Modern Shanghai, Italianni’s, TGI Fridays and Wangfu.
SM Prime reports gross floor area of about 133,000 square meters as of December 31, 2025. Food is the broadest category at 56 brands, running from Jollibee, KFC and Greenwich to Panda Express, Dookki and Popeyes, with technology at 27 and apparel at 15. The SM Store still holds the department store space, and Uniqlo, Bench, Penshoppe, Plains & Prints and CLN carry the apparel line.
The Medical City operates a clinic in the building, and Fantasy World and a karaoke venue occupy the entertainment floor. Manila Bulletin reported a further upgrade programme covering the exterior, entrances, pedestrian canopies and parking structure.
