About this mall

General Growth Properties developed Mesa Mall, opening in 1980 in Grand Junction, Colorado, along US Highway 6 and 50. The property has since changed hands multiple times, most recently in 2025, when CBL Properties bought Mesa Mall along with three other regional malls from Washington Prime Group.

At roughly 836,721 sqft, the property carries more than 120 stores across six anchor positions, anchored by JCPenney, Target and Dillard’s, with Cabela’s (rebranded Bass Pro Shops in 2025), Dick’s Sporting Goods (opened 2021) and HomeGoods (opened 2021) among the property’s other anchors.

Sephora, Hollister Co. and Victoria’s Secret carry fashion and beauty among the specialty tenants; Kay Jewelers and Pandora carry jewelry.

That 2025 CBL Properties acquisition, part of a four-mall package bought from Washington Prime Group, a company that itself emerged from an earlier Simon Property Group spinoff before its own financial troubles, reflects the continued consolidation of American regional mall ownership among a shrinking number of specialist REITs, with Mesa Mall passing through at least three distinct institutional ownership structures across four and a half decades.
