Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the company will open the first store in Taiwan.
After opening 40 stores in China and 6 in Hong Kong, and over 41 years of presence as a company, Apple will finally open its first official store in Taiwan in the capital city’s iconic Taipei 101 skyscraper. It is revealing signage for a new store opening in the Taipei 101 mall within the iconic tower earlier known as the Taipei World Financial Centre. Occupying 1,322 square meters and taking up two floors; as with all new Apple Stores its expected that Apple Taipei 101 will receive the Jony Ive treatment, bringing the new, spacious store organization seen within multiple new Apple locations across the world.
The new outlet will be Apple’s third around a major skyscraper. One is located at the reconstructed World Trade Center in New York City —another is in the Dubai Mall, next to the world’s highest building, the Burj Khalifa, which hits over half a mile into the sky.
Apple hasn’t published the specific opening date for their new Taiwan-based Apple Store but it’s expected the location will open in true Apple fashion at the end of June 2017.
