The legendary burger chain replaces the staff with robots

Robot chef Flippie will make hamburgers, fries, and other dishes for visitors as early as 2021.

White Castle restaurant chain has announced plans to expand its partnership with Miso Robotics. After a successful pilot project in January, ten more restaurants will have a new “worker” in their kitchens – robot chef Flippy. In 2021, the first ten restaurants in the U.S. will have a robot-assistant who will cook complete dishes for guests. 

Flippy is the world’s first autonomous robot-assistant for work in the kitchen. It became commercially available in early October 2020 for about $30,000.

According to the algorithm, Miso Robotics’ robot-assistant can cook 19 different dishes on its own, developed by the cooks. The robot is mounted on rails specially installed under the restaurant’s kitchen hood. Flippie can move forward and backward, moving semi-finished and finished products, as well as controlling krill and fryers. 

White Castle plans to use Flippie for night shifts and unload employees. It will help to focus on preparing take-out and delivery orders that became more popular during the pandemic.
