In Belgium, an unofficial “Grand Reopening” – the day of “Grand Reopening” of retail business across the country was announced. According to the portal RetailDetail, the authorities of the kingdom have decided to ease restrictions and allow shops and shopping centers to operate.
The longest queues were marked near the shops of Swedish retailer IKEA. Due to the restrictions on the number of visitors, customers had to wait in lines for several hours. More than 600 people gathered at the IKEA entrance in Brussels.
French sports goods dealer Decathlon also faced the fact that in the most popular locations at the entrance to the hypermarket, there were kilometer-long queues. Sports stores also recorded flows of customers who waited more than an hour to get inside.
Huge queues of shoppers were also seen at the entrance to Stadsfeestzaal, the shopping mall where the Delhaize, Action, and Kruidvat stores had been opened. Outside the major metropolitan areas, many stores did not record any significant traffic. H&M and Fnac were the most popular, although in some malls, most stores remained half-empty.
