Nordstrom has announced that it will be placing one of its stores at Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach.
Pembroke is one of the oldest enclosed shopping centers in Virginia as it was built almost 50 years ago. It will house a 32500ft² Nordstrom Rack due to open during spring of 2016. The space is currently owned by Sears Holdings, who is preparing to downsize its Sears store at the mall to make sufficient room for the new tenant.
There was talk about a potential Nordstrom Rack within the Richmond area during last summer when it was indicated on drawings for the West Broad Marketplace design in Short Pump, where Wegmans grocery store is due to open. The developer stated at the time that the drawing was for illustration purposes only and did not imply that the store would be placed there.
A spokesperson for Nordstrom said the group is searching for locations within the Richmond area, but would not divulge timeframes or specific locations.
Nordstrom, based in Seattle, operates 116 full-line stores and 168 Nordstrom Racks.
