The famous Michelin gastronomic rating published the year’s results for France, naming the chefs who received the coveted stars.

This time only one chef managed to get the cherished third star. Alexandre Mazza from Marseilles famous for his ability to create unique combinations of spices, thanks to which dishes are flavored with unusual taste qualities. He is a former basketball player, became famous quickly in the restaurant business. Well, a third Michelin star will make him famous. As Alexander Mazza himself noted, he does consider himself a chef.
The number of chefs who managed to get the second star is insignificant. There were only two; Helene Darroze from Paris and Cedric Decker from a small village in Alsace. There were far more nominees for the first star – 54 new restaurants were awarded this honor. Other awards, such as the Green Star, were also presented for the active use of environmentally friendly technologies.
The Michelin Guide was the only restaurant guide published for 2020. Its endless lockdowns and quarantines forced cafes and restaurants to stay closed. The presentation of the new issue took place at the Eiffel Tower, in the restaurant Jules Verne. The number of visitors was minimal, but everyone could watch the online broadcast.
According to Michelin representatives, gathering information about the restaurants to be opened in 2020 was not easy. They had to find the right time when they were open, which caused many publication employees to cancel their summer vacations. But the result was worth it. And the release of the new guide will be excellent support for establishments that are having a tough time in coronavirus times.
