SM Prime reopened this building as SM City J Mall on 25 October 2024, at 165 A.S. Fortuna Street in Barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City, rebuilt around a Japanese theme that runs through the leasing plan and not the decor alone. It had traded for about eleven years as JCentre Mall under EverJust Realty, which closed it on 31 January 2023, with the sale to SM Prime reported on 10 February 2023.
SM Prime reports gross floor area of about 105,000 square meters as of December 31, 2025. The building carries four retail levels and parking for 1,000 vehicles. An Izakaya dining row, a food hall and two Director’s Club cinemas opened with it. A trampoline park, boulder climbing, escape rooms, and a virtual golf arena occupy the same floors.
The SM Store and SM Hypermarket take the anchor space, with SM Appliance Center, Ace Hardware and Watsons beside them. Uniqlo, Levi’s, Guess, Havaianas, Plains & Prints and Palladium fill the inline space, with New Balance and K-Swiss on athletic footwear and Digital Walker, Power Mac Center and DJI in a compact technology cluster. Marugame Udon, J.CO Donuts & Coffee, BreadTalk and llaollao carry the food line, and Gashapon BANDAI and Scentsmith Perfumery sit alongside them. Fashion, footwear and devices dominate that mix while the anchors handle daily goods, the shape of a centre serving Mandaue itself.
SM Supermalls counted J Mall as its fourth mall in Metro Cebu when it opened, after SM City Cebu, SM City Consolacion and SM Seaside City Cebu. Against Seaside at about 394,000 square meters and SM City Cebu at about 267,000 on the same corporate measure, it is the smallest of those four, and SM Prime tied the project to demand in Mandaue itself. The operator treated access as part of that: a 9.5-kilometre MyBus route was introduced to the mall in October 2024, with Mandaue traffic enforcers deployed at the surrounding intersections for the opening.
