SM City Bacolod has expanded in successive low-rise additions across its reclamation-area site. Two single-storey wings opened first, a second storey went onto the North Wing in 2014 at a cost of 1.4 billion pesos, that wing was renovated again in 2016, and a North Block opened in 2025.
SM Prime opened the property on 2 March 2007 as its twenty-eighth Supermall and its first in Negros, on Rizal Street in Bacolod. SM Prime reports gross floor area of about 128,000 square meters as of December 31, 2025, on a site of 161,096 square meters.
Two non-retail uses share the address. SMX Convention Center Bacolod operates on the property, and a government service office opened on the third floor in 2023.
Sport, casual apparel and footwear form the most visible inline cluster, including Fox, Quiksilver, Vans, Hurley, Salomon, Birkenstock, FitFlop, Dr. Kong and Ipanema. Xiaomi and Garmin cover devices, Jockey basics, La-Z-Boy furniture, and Seattle’s Best Coffee and At Tokyo make up the cafe band.
