Midtown Plaza (Saskatoon)

About this mall

In the sixties Midtown Plaza mall was built on the site of the city’s old railway station as part of a major inner city redevelopment. At the same time construction of a freeway, the Senator Sid Buckwold Bridge, and TCU Place, a major arts-convention complex, was completed.

In 1990, Midtown Plaza underwent a major expansion adding a second level and a food court where the old Dominion grocery store was located. The outside also received a major facelift to make it more closely resemble the former rail station it had replaced.

In the eighties, a satellite mall, Midtown Village, opened to the west of the mall, featuring boutique businesses. It has since been demolished to make way for additional parking.
