Indooroopilly Shopping Centre pairs Myer and David Jones under one roof, the only location in Brisbane’s western suburbs carrying both full-line department stores. Dexus manages the 116,750 sqm super-regional center, which opened in 1970 on a site cleared of the Queenslander-style homes that previously stood there.

A $450 million redevelopment completed in 2014 rebuilt the centre around an Art of Fashion concept, adding a plaza precinct with outdoor dining alongside the enclosed retail floors. The renovation helped the property win the Property Council of Australia’s Queensland Retail Property of the Year award in 2015.

AutoMall West, added in 2022, put a car dealership and service centre inside the shopping centre itself, an Australian first that includes Subaru among its brands and represents a tenant category no comparable Brisbane mall has taken on. Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and Kmart round out the grocery and discount anchors around it.

H&M, Uniqlo, Zimmermann and Country Road sit inside a fashion register that runs to more than 300 specialty stores, while a 16-screen Event Cinemas complex and the Indooroopilly bus interchange, 400 metres from the train station, give the centre a combination of bus and rail access that broadens its catchment across Brisbane’s western suburbs.

The centre’s catchment carries household incomes 22 percent above the Brisbane average, a demographic profile that has kept a 50 percent stake trading hands at valuations above $600 million even as most Australian regional malls see limited transaction volume. That scarcity value is what keeps institutional owners bidding for a share of one of only four super-regional centres in the city.
