About this mall

Árkád Budapest occupies the 68,000-sqm footprint at Örs vezér tere 25/A in the XIV district, opened in 2002 and owned by ECE Group as the Hamburg-based operator’s principal Hungarian asset and the largest shopping centre by retail GLA in Budapest. The site is not incidental: Örs vezér tere is the eastern terminus of metro Line M2 and simultaneously a suburban rail interchange, making it the highest-volume transit junction in eastern Budapest, with approximately 100,000 passengers passing through daily before they reach the city centre.

ECE built the retail programme around that captive transit flow. The anchor grocery level anchors daily-visit traffic while two fashion floors stack the Inditex cluster, H&M, Mango, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, and a Sephora beauty position above. Cinema City holds the leisure anchor. What distinguishes Árkád from the Budapest super-regional average is the food court scale: with roughly 30 catering units, it functions as the catering infrastructure for the entire Örs vezér tere transport hub rather than serving the mall’s own visitors alone.

The core catchment runs through the XIV, X, and XV districts. Beyond that, the eastern suburban rail lines feeding Örs vezér tere extend the effective catchment 20 to 40 kilometres into Pest County. Consumers from Gödöllő, Pécel, and the wider eastern commuter belt pass through the station daily; the mall sits immediately at the point of arrival. Dedicated parking accommodates approximately 2,200 vehicles for the portion of the catchment that does not travel by rail.

ECE Group manages Árkád within a portfolio of approximately 200 centres across 13 European countries, and the Budapest asset ranks among its Central European trophy properties by both GLA and throughput. The immediate competitor is the 66,000-sqm Arena Mall one kilometre south on the same eastern Budapest axis, creating one of the highest concentrations of super-regional GLA within a single urban corridor in the region.
