The famous Le Poppies restaurant in Nice was reopened by the owner’s decision on January 27.

French authorities arrested Christophe Wilson, Le Poppies’ restaurant owner, which opened to visitors despite the strict quarantine.
The famous Le Poppies restaurant was reopened by the decision of its owner on January 27. Wilson opened the doors of the restaurant at lunchtime and immediately attracted about a hundred customers. The restaurateur also hoped to raise public awareness of the problems the industry is experiencing amid pandemic and restrictions.
“I hope that everyone will support this movement and that the population of our country will soon return to normal life,” commented Wilson, detained by the police.
Recently, there has been a growing movement of resistance to restrictive measures by independent restaurateurs in France. Many French people are happy to visit underground catering establishments that are opening. Officially, all establishments have been closed in the country since mid-October. Many establishments receive guests with the bars down and the doors closed. Their owners point out that a complete closure amid high rental rates would quickly lead to business bankruptcy. A number of the restaurants that organized the resistance movement plan to open simultaneously from February 1.
