The project of a large-scale mixed project includes houses, offices, parks, and stores.

According to officially published documentation, Google plans to build a stunningly imaginative multifunctional residential complex in San Jose, California. The project, called Downtown West, is currently under review by the authorities and will be approved by spring 2021.
The project’s work will take about three years; the technology giant plans to completely transform the site, an area of more than 81 acres (300,000 square meters). There will be living spaces, business premises like offices, and much more. About 500,000 square feet (45 000 sq.m.) will be given to retail and zones for residents’ cultural and social activities. Also, the project includes spaces for events and hotels.
And more than 15 acres (60,000 sq.m.) will be occupied by parks and open areas for recreation. The Downtown West project creators wanted the residents to have access to nature, even in urban conditions. More than half of all space will be allocated for residential and public areas. For residents’ convenience, there are also options such as an infrastructure for entertainment and childcare, educational centers in the open air, environmental observation stations, and many others.
Lendlease, an Australian company, contracted the project. The development of Downtown West will take place as part of a $15 billion deal with Google. According to the agreement, the company will engage in projects to develop about 1.5 million square meters and the construction of a residential, commercial, hotel, and other projects in the San Francisco Bay area.
The partnership with Lendlease is part of Google’s plans to build 20,000 houses in Silicon Valley to address the chronic housing shortage in the area.
