The ban on restaurants forced the mall to take an unusual step to allow guests to dine right in the multi-level parking lot.

The California governor’s restrictions on indoor shopping and dining have made it very difficult for the restaurant business and shopping malls to operate. Glendale Galleria decided to be creative and take a risky enough step to keep at least part of its restaurants afloat.
The guest tables have been placed directly onto the multi-level parking lot, allowing for the restaurants to be considered outdoors and to work without breaking the rules. The restaurant area is separated from the cars by road cones, and the tables are also arranged in such a way as to provide the necessary social distance between visitors.
The comfort of the guests of the “restaurant” is slightly impaired by car traffic. Although the trade in the mall is stopped, visitors still come to pick up their orders, go to Target, or one of the few shops that are still open. But for the customers of the restaurant in the parking lot, visiting such an unusual place can be a unique experience that is unlikely to happen again someday. And for the restaurants themselves, this is a chance to continue working and not to close completely.
