Megaproject will include 10,5 million square feet of stores.
The Saudi government has announced the construction of another megaproject. A 400-meter cube-shaped skyscraper will be built in Riyadh.
The total construction area, including the skyscraper Mukaab, will be 200 million square feet – the new commercial center of the Saudi capital will be built northwest of downtown. The structure will be one of the largest in the world.
The skyscraper will be 400 meters high and 400 meters long on each side. The building will be framed by a facade of overlapping triangular forms in the modern architectural style of Najdi.
The highlight of the building will be a full-height atrium, which will house a giant spiral-shaped tower. The skyscraper will become a part of a new district Murabba, where also 100 thousand houses, hotels with 9 thousand rooms, 10,5 million sq. feet of stores and 15 million sq. feet office spaces will be constructed.
In addition, the project will include 80 entertainment and cultural facilities, a university of technology and design and a multifunctional theater with an immersive effect and an “iconic” museum. Cultural and tourist sites will occupy a total area of about 21,5 million sq. feet. The project is expected to be completed by 2030.
