Entering the Miami Design District stands as a pivotal moment for Birkenstock
German footwear brand Birkenstock has announced the opening of a retail store in Miami’s Design District. This is another important step in the company’s strategy to aggressively expand in the U.S. market following its IPO in New York.
Birkenstock Miami Design District is located at 111 NE 40th Street. The design of the retail space references contemporary Miami architecture. The store’s floors are made of travertine stone, and the interior also features cork wood, leather and live plants that reference the local flora. The space is filled with natural light, providing an atmosphere of serenity.
“Entering the Miami Design District stands as a pivotal moment for Birkenstock,” said Oliver Reichert, CEO of Birkenstock. “It represents merging our brand’s enduring dedication to quality, tradition and heritage with the creative spirit and global community of Miami. Deepening our retail footprint is an important pillar of our long-term growth strategy. We currently have 47 shops around the world. In the U.S., for example, we have some 6,600 doors, but run only five own stores. So, there’s obviously a huge upside potential.”
To coincide with the launch of its new Miami store, Birkenstock is releasing a special collection created in partnership with Concepts. It includes Arizona sandals in long-wool cowhide leather in four vibrant colors. The models will be available in the new store, at Concepts retailers, and on 1774.com. The brand also promises giveaways to visitors to the new outlet during the week.
In honor of the opening, Birkenstock is also integrating itself into Miami’s art community by becoming a sponsor of the Design Miami design platform. At the show, the brand will introduce interactive features and technology displays, as well as a number of exclusive services and amenities for shoppers.
Birkenstock had its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange in October 2023. The brand previously opened stores in New York and California.
