Amazon has announced plans to create a network of retail stores, which will open at the main shopping streets of the UK.
The plans of the Internet giant is the launch of ten trading platforms in a pop-up format to support the business of small online stores.
Thanks to the opening of stores in street retail, Amazon expects to give small businesses a chance to participate in traditional retail for the first time on the streets with high customer traffic.
The one-year program officially began with the launch of the first store on St Mary’s Gate in central Manchester. The flagship stores Zara, Coach surrounds the retail space, & Other Stories, UGG, and other brands. Shortly, Amazon expects to open stores Clicks and Mortar in Wales, Scotland, as well as in central England, the north and south-east of the country. The analysis of the pilot project will be carried out by independent analysts who will report to the UK government.
“British consumers appreciate online and offline shopping, and our task is to help small businesses successfully combine the benefits of online commerce with their location on top shopping streets in street retail,” commented Emma Jones, the founder of Enterprise Nation, supporting over 90 thousand businessmen in the UK.
The new concept will provide small businesses with space, technology, and support to enable them to enter the world of traditional retail. At the same time, buyers will get a chance to discover new brands in their usual locations in the city center. ”
For Amazon, the Clicks and Mortar project is not the first experiment in traditional retail. In the United States, an online retailer manages Amazon Go’s network of innovative convenience stores, as well as a network of bookstores. The Amazon Go concept will be introduced to the UK market soon.
