After 18 months of preparatory work, the ultramodern design concept has become a reality.
Against the background of the general weakening of retail and the closing of many stores, MAC Cosmetics decided to go ahead and explore new directions. In the newly opened store, customers will experience a virtual reality experience that’s being rethought within the world of cosmetics.
Eighteen months of research and development preceded before the MAC Innovation Lab opening at Queens Center in New York City. Thanks to virtual reality technologies, the store’s customers will create their palettes of shadows, lipsticks, and other cosmetics, personalize product packaging, and receive various other services.
Virtual fitting of individual makeup elements or even entire images created by MAC makeup artists is also available. The technology creators promise even more advanced opportunities for visitors, who will be offered cosmetic solutions based on their skin tone and other features and preferences.
All these processes will involve artificial intelligence technology, so we are talking about much more thought-out and perfect solutions than just a random selection of colorful shades, which many brands have tried to implement not too successfully. Also available to visitors are infrared touch screens, which will allow you to select cosmetics without touching the face. The customer can save the results of “fitting” on the smartphone. Visitors to the new store will experience all of the advantages of modern technology and gain a unique experience.
Virtual fittings in makeup are becoming a new trend. During the pandemic, many buyers are afraid to try cosmetics in a store “in the old fashioned way,” through physical contact. Advanced virtual technology will undoubtedly be in demand. The new MAC store has become a step in the entire industry into a new reality. All new concept store processes are designed for a full contactless experience to consider the new requirements for visitors to physical stores.
