About Paul & Shark

Paul & Shark is the Italian premium menswear and nautical lifestyle brand headquartered in Masnago near Varese in Lombardy, owned and operated by the Dini family across three generations. The company is run by Andrea Dini (CEO), grandson of founder Paolo Dini, with the family retaining full private ownership of the brand.

Founded in 1977 by Paolo Dini as the heir to the Dama SpA knitwear manufacturer (established 1921), Paul & Shark built its market position through a yachting-and-sailing-influenced product range combining technical performance fabrics with Italian craftsmanship. The signature shark logo and the brand’s “Typhoon 20000” weather-protection technology became defining product markers. The brand operates in the premium menswear and casualwear segment alongside Loro Piana, Brunello Cucinelli (in its sportier expressions), and similar Italian premium-casual houses, positioned above mainstream menswear but below full luxury heritage maisons. Annual revenue is estimated in the range of €150 to €200 million, with the Dini family maintaining full ownership and steady reinvestment in vertical integration including in-house knitwear manufacturing, R&D into recycled and recyclable fabrics, and direct retail expansion. Paul & Shark has been recognized for sustainability initiatives including the Save the Sea ocean-pollution awareness program. The brand suspended Russian operations in 2022.

Paul & Shark operates approximately 220 stores globally, with the largest concentrations in Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, the Benelux, the United States, China, Japan, and the Middle East. Distribution combines wholly owned boutiques, franchised stores in select international markets, premium multi-brand specialty retail, and a substantial wholesale presence in department stores and yacht-club retail. For mall operators, Paul & Shark is a Class A specialty premium menswear tenant typically taking 100 to 200 square meters, fitting alongside Loro Piana, Etro, Brunello Cucinelli, and similar Italian premium menswear brands. The brand’s nautical positioning makes it a natural fit for coastal-resort and yachting-adjacent retail destinations, beyond its core regional mall presence.
