Simon opens Fukaya-Hanazono outlet in Tokyo

Simon Investment Fund, one of the largest owners of upscale malls in the United States, Europe and Asia, announced the opening of Fukaya-Hanazono Premium Outlets in suburban Tokyo.

The new outlet is the tenth in the Premium Outlet chain in Japan and the first in the country in a decade. The outlet, which opened in partnership with Mitsubishi Estate Simon, is located 45 miles northwest of Tokyo.

“We are excited to celebrate the opening of our newest Premium Outlet center in Fukaya, Saitama Prefecture, as part of our continued international growth strategy in Japan,” said Mark Silvestri, President of Development, Simon.  
 
Fukaya-Hanazono Premium Outlets wi will feature 137 stores totaling 296,000 square feet of retail space. Among the tenants announced stores Adidas, Armani, Bally, Coach, Dsquared2, Furla, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, New Balance, Nike, Polo Ralph Lauren, Theory, Tommy Hilfiger, Tory Burch, Puma, Vans, Valentino and Versace.

24 brands will open at Fukaya-Hanazono Premium Outlets in the format of conceptual outlet centers for the first time in Japan. For musical instrument manufacturer Korg it will be the world’s first store in this format. In line with the latest trends in the market, the outlet features new restaurant concepts, including western cuisines, as well as an impressive gastronomic space in terms of design. 

The new Fukaya-Hanazono outlet has been built according to a modern architectural design that complements the landscape of the area. The finish for the complex uses red brick and wood finishes that are characteristic of Fukaya. A unique experience for buyers will also be provided by wall paintings by local artists and artwork from the collection of the Chokoku-no Mori Art Foundation.

Fukaya-Hanazono Premium Outlets will be the first in the Japanese outlet chain to use solar and other renewable energy sources for all of its electricity consumption. About 440 solar panels have been installed on the mall’s premises to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
