Werre-Park

Werre-Park opened in 1990 in Bad Oeynhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, at the junction of the Werre river and the A30 motorway, with approximately 50,000 sqm of gross leasable area as the principal retail destination for the eastern Westphalia spa and health resort city and one of the first major enclosed shopping centres in the Minden-Lübbecke district. The centre is managed by ECE Projektmanagement.

Bad Oeynhausen is a thermal spa and rehabilitation medicine centre in the Teutoburg Forest region, known for the mineral springs and the Kurpark spa facilities that have attracted health tourism since the nineteenth century. The city of approximately 49,000 serves as a commercial centre for the eastern Westphalia communities between Bielefeld and the Lower Saxony border. Werre-Park’s position adjacent to the A30 motorway provides road accessibility from across the eastern Westphalia-Lower Saxony border corridor, and the Werre river waterway creates a distinctive natural setting for the retail park site. H&M and mainstream fashion retail serve the Bad Oeynhausen catchment and the surrounding Minden-Lübbecke district. The A30 provides direct access toward Osnabrück and Hannover.

Bad Oeynhausen’s population of approximately 49,000 provides the immediate base. The Minden-Lübbecke district catchment from Herford, Porta Westfalica, and the Teutoburg Forest communities extends the regional draw to approximately 300,000. The A30 motorway provides access toward Osnabrück (50 kilometres west) and Hannover (100 kilometres east). The Kurpark spa tourism creates a health visitor overlay.

ECE manages Werre-Park as the commercial anchor for a thermal spa city whose health tourism creates a visitor economy of rehabilitation patients, health tourists, and weekend spa visitors whose shopping behaviour during multi-day stays supplements the resident retail catchment with a medically motivated visitor group who spend commercial time in the adjacent retail park during recovery and treatment periods.
