Lasnamäe Idakeskus

Idakeskus opened in 1997 on Punane street in the middle of Lasnamäe, Tallinn’s largest and most populous district with more than 116,000 residents, positioned to draw from a residential catchment with no comparable retail center nearby at the time. The property runs three entrances, two from the street and one directly from its attached sports complex, across roughly 6,500 sqm and more than 60 stores.

Coop Pank, the successor brand after Krediidipank’s 2017 rebrand, operates a branch inside the center, alongside Olympic Casino and Zanzibar, a restaurant popular enough with Lasnamäe residents to be cited by name in the property’s own marketing. IDAKESKUS Sport, renovated in 2015, runs a six-lane 25-metre pool and two saunas alongside Krabi Bowling, marketed as Estonia’s largest and most modern bowling venue at the time it opened.

Genova Mööbel, Seegi Mööbel and a cluster of other furniture retailers anchor a home-goods floor that has grown to occupy a large share of the property’s roughly 67 current tenants, reflecting a shift toward furniture and home-improvement retail from the more general merchandise mix the center carried at opening.

That combination, a democratic, accessible price positioning across clothing, footwear, furniture, jewellery and electronics alongside a genuinely large-scale sports and entertainment complex, has kept Idakeskus functioning as Lasnamäe’s default neighborhood shopping destination for more than 25 years without a major renovation of the retail floor itself.
