Keskus Mustikas

Keskus Mustikas occupies the former site of the Kadaka open-air market, which had operated at the location from 1993 to 1998 before the current shopping center was built at A.H. Tammsaare tee 116 in Tallinn’s Mustamäe district. A major fire on March 5, 2009 spread across 1,000 sqm of the property, causing damage estimated above 100 million kroons (roughly €6.4 million); investigators suspected arson but the case was ultimately closed without identifying a cause or suspect, complicated by a malfunctioning automatic sprinkler system.

Prisma anchors the grocery floor as a full-line hypermarket, with Bauhof carrying home goods, and Rahva Raamat running a bookstore. A dense beauty and personal-care cluster, including multiple independent salons alongside Norman-Optika and Mustika Pere Optika, occupies a significant share of the roughly 60-store tenant mix across the center’s 26,500 sqm.

The property recovered fully from the 2009 fire and has continued operating without further major incident, distinct from its newer, smaller neighbor Mustamäe Keskus, built in 2016 a short walk away on the same street with a different owner and a more leisure-oriented format.

That recovery, rebuilding a full-line hypermarket-anchored center after a fire serious enough to require multiple fire engines and water tankers, reflects the property’s underlying scale and importance to its Mustamäe catchment relative to smaller-format retail nearby.
