ION Orchard opened on 21 July 2009 at 2 Orchard Turn with 56,000 sqm of gross leasable area across eight retail floors, anchoring the northern entry point of Orchard Road at the junction of Scotts Road and Orchard Turn. The property is co-owned and managed by CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust (CICT) and Sun Hung Kai Properties as the principal Orchard Road gateway retail destination.

Orchard MRT station on the North-South Line and Thomson-East Coast Line is integrated directly into the basement levels B4 and B3 of ION Orchard, with the station concourse opening into the mall’s retail floors without any surface crossing required. This is the most intimate MRT-to-retail integration on Orchard Road: the transition from train platform to luxury retail takes approximately 30 seconds. Shaw Theatres operates the premium cinema on the upper floors.
