Long described as Portugal’s largest shopping center, Colombo has traded since 1997 on Lisbon’s Segunda Circular, beside Colégio Militar/Luz station on the Blue metro line and across from Benfica’s stadium. Its GLA is close to 120,000 sqm on three levels, and two office towers completed in 2009 and 2011 already stand on the complex.
The next works stay inside that footprint. Sonae Sierra and CBRE Investment Management, owners through Sierra Prime and RPFI, have scheduled a full refurbishment for the first quarter of 2027 and an extension for 2028 that adds more than 7,000 sqm and over 20 units. The program creates a new dining area and a service hub, improves the leisure offer and strengthens the fashion anchors, with Reify leading architecture, planning and construction.
With Zara, H&M, Primark and JD Sports already trading, the extension is less about first entries than about deepening the categories that keep visitors on site longer. Office space supports the weekday trade: Sonae Sierra and AXA IM Alts set up a joint venture for a 35,000 sqm Grade A office building on top of the center, adding to the occupiers of the two existing towers.
The owners put the catchment at 2 million people. Within Lisbon, Colombo covers the north-west of the city and the Amadora and Odivelas side of the metropolitan area, while Sonae Sierra’s Centro Vasco da Gama serves Parque das Nações to the east.
