Malibu Barbie Cafe is opening at Mall of America

A pop-up Malibu Barbie Cafe will open at Mall of America in September, following a true “Barbie mania” amid the movie’s commercial success starring Bargo Robbie.

The establishment will be the third location, following successful debuts in New York and Chicago. The project is owned by Bucket Listers, which has also worked with nostalgia-based pop-up experiences such as “The Golden Girls Kitchen” and “The Peach Pit.”

The unofficial “Barbie Cafe” will feature signature colors and menu items fr om “MasterChef” finalist Becca Brown – “Pacific Paradise Pancakes,” “West Coast Salad” and “California Dream Club Sandwich.” The pop-up cafe will offer nightly skate rentals and other entertainment. For those who love photos for social media, the cafe will feature a giant Barbie.

“We are excited to bring the Malibu Barbie Cafe to Mall of America. This unique establishment allows Barbie fans of all ages to immerse themselves in the world of Barbie,” said Mall of America spokesperson Carrie Charleston.

Demand for the new café has been so great that its creators have had to lim it admission to by appointment only.

Greta Gerwig’s film has reached $1.183 billion worldwide. In the U.S. so far, the picture has earned 526 million dollars and approached the collections of the comic book movie “The Dark Knight,” entering the top 20 films in history. More than 20% of all “Barbie” viewers in the U.S. attended a movie theater for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020.
