IKEA’s owner, the Swedish Ingka Group, announced the opening of its first concept store under the Atelier100 brand in London, in partnership with H&M.
Located inside the new Livat Hammersmith shopping and entertainment center, owned by the Ingka Group, the store showcases the achievements of local designers, artists and creatives. The project is positioned as a “hyperlocal” retail destination that focuses on sustainability.
As Markus Engman, Chief Creative Officer of Ingka Group, commented, “we are excited about opening the first Atelier100 store. Every part of the store tells a different story, from the locally produced products on the shelves to the recycled materials used to construct the building.”
It is known that currently the first twenty local designers and artists are participating in the Ingka Group-funded program and bringing their unique ideas to life. The first products created by local artists will be available from October 2022.
Livat Hammersmith’s Atelier100 features innovative design and the interiors are crafted from materials from the former Topshop flagship store on Oxford Street, which IKEA acquired in autumn 2021. As part of the concept, the store can also serve as a workshop or exhibition space for the local community.
