A Piaget flagship store was robbed in Paris, where armed robbers stole jewelry worth millions of euros. This is the third robbery in the neighborhood in the past two years. A group of “elegantly dressed” crooks robbed the Paris boutique of the Swiss watch and jewelry maker, which is part of Richemont. They are estimated to have carried off jewelry worth up to 15 million euros.
The crime occurred at 1 p.m. on the Rue de la Paix, an upscale street in Paris’ Second arrondissement (district) home to several other high-end jewelry stores. The robbers, threatening with a gun, forced the store employees to open the windows and lie on the floor. They then seized jewelry worth and left the store on foot. It is believed that there may have been motorcycles waiting for them nearby. Fortunately, no shots were fired during the robbery and no one was injured.
This is not the first case of robbery of a jewelry store in the Second arrondissement of Paris. In the spring of this year, a nearby Bulgari store was robbed, and last year there was also a robbery of a temporary Chanel store on the same street, resulting in thieves stealing goods worth millions of dollars.
