Retailer Babies R Us is preparing to open its first store in the US after a five-year hiatus. The retailer specializing in baby products will resume operations on July 19, 2023.
According to the company’s press office, the first store after the relaunch will open in the America Dream. Toys R Us resumed operations in December 2021, opening a 3 million-square-foot store in the Meadowlands.
Both brands are owned by WHP Global, which struck a deal to acquire the retailer’s parent company Tru Kids in 2021. The company said the store opening at American Dream “lays the groundwork for a nationwide rollout of Babies R Us.
Toys R Us, formerly based in Wayne, filed for bankruptcy in 2018, closing all its stores. Babies R Us was a well-known retail chain specializing in baby, toy, and juvenile products. It was a subsidiary of the larger toy and juvenile-products retailer Toys “R” Us. Babies R Us stores primarily catered to expectant parents, new parents, and families with infants and young children.
