Apple has officially unveiled the design of its first store in Mumbai. A teaser online mentions that the Apple Store will be in the Bandra Kurla Complex at the Jio World Drive Mall. A second smaller outlet will appear in Delhi.
The official Apple website also has a welcome message, “Hello Mumbai. We are preparing to welcome you to our first shop in India. And I’m excited to see where your imagination leads you at Apple BKC.”
It is noted that the brand logo published in the teaser was inspired by Mumbai’s distinctive Kaali Peeli cab art. The creative also includes vibrant versions of stickers and the many Apple products and services offered in the store. Especially for opening the first stores in India, Apple is also releasing a playlist, which can be found on Apple Music.
Apple has been preparing to expand into India for the past few years. The store in Mumbai will carry flagship status, unlike the smaller outlet in Delhi. The company’s entry into the market was made possible after lengthy negotiations with the local authorities. To reach agreements to open the store, the company committed to sourcing at least 30% of components for goods from local suppliers.
